The „Tefsir” project among leading European projects
On October 16-18, 2019, at the Università degli Studi di Napoli „L’Orientale”, the international meeting ERC Synergy Project „The European Qur’an” (EuQu) was held. Its participants were the managers of scientific research projects related to the Qur’ran in Europe. Among the speakers, there were prof. Joanna Kulwicka-Kamińska and prof. Czesław Łapicz from the Centre for Kitab Studies, Nicolaus Copernicus University. The „Tefsir” project presented by the speakers is the only project in Europe covering the research on the handwritten translation literature of Tatars of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (now Poland, Lithuania and Belarus), including the 16th-century translation of the Qur’an into Polish. The presentation of the scope of the research at the Centre in Toruń met with great listeners’ interest and resulted in inviting us to several scientific centres, including Germany, Spain and Russia, to give specialized lectures.
